Wesbild Purchases Land from Province

Wesbild is pleased to announce that it has purchased 370 acres of land from the Province of British Columbia on Burke Mountain.

Included in the agreement of Purchase and Sale is a provision that ensures two school sites located within the area are available for purchase by the School Board, if needed, with prices frozen at 2014 market value for 10 years. In addition, Wesbild will provide services such as sanitary and sewer to the site at no charge to the School District.

“This land is a natural extension of our The Foothills at Burke Mountain community”, says Kevin Layden, President and CEO of Wesbild. “Wesbild is very excited to continue our over 30 year history in the City of Coquitlam.”

Approximately a quarter of the newly acquired land is situated within approved neighbourhood plans, Smiling Creek and Partington Creek, with a large percentage of the remainder being a part of the City of Coquitlam’s Northwest Burke Vision (NBV) which is already underway.

“We look forward to working closely with the City of Coquitlam on the Northwest Burke Vision,” expanded Layden. “Council has approved an innovative visioning process and Wesbild is excited to be participating as member of the Property Owners Group. In addition to that, we plan on engaging residents in community consultation similar to other neighbourhoods we have developed on Burke Mountain.”

Wesbild has been a land owner in Coquitlam since the early 1980s and has owned land on Burke Mountain since 2002. The Foothills at Burke Mountain is now home to hundreds of happy families with new neighbours moving in each week. Eight show homes are now open from seven of BC’s best builders, including Foxridge, Mission Group, Morningstar, Noura, Polygon, Silver Star and Wallmark.
